Magic Moments…
Behind the scenes we witnessed some magic moments that we wanted to share with you all. This year we saw a lot of supportive behaviour from the dancers big and small, but there were a couple of very special moments that we just have to share.
There was a lovely little dancer who froze on stage with a mental blank which can happen to even the most experienced of dancers. Firstly, it was lovely to see the volunteers rallying back-stage to support her to get over the disappointment and also to support and encourage her to come back on stage. She was then comforted by a fellow dancer and further encouraged. After a practice in the change room, she made her way with her dance friend and the stage manager to the side stage. With a high five and lots of encouragement, this young dancer went back out on stage and danced her solo so beautifully. Such a brave young dancer and it was also such a beautiful moment to witness, her sense of achievement and the support of her wonderful dance friend and community.
We were thrilled to see the senior dancers setting a great example supporting all the dancers, not just the dancers from their school. Troupe dancers were fabulous cheering and applauding for other troupes, and soloist dancers were just lovely giving the next dancer a ‘chookas’ as they went side stage. There were some truly magic moments though as the dancers prepared for the presentations for Championships. It was evident the dancers really enjoyed all working together to come up with an idea for how they would enter the stage and choosing a song to suit. The Junior Theatrical Championship performers came out arm in arm, such a gorgeous moment and the Senior Modern Championship performers chose the song, ‘We are all in this together’. It was such a beautiful choice and in fact all the dancers from all the schools were all in it together. It really brought home the sense of community of the SA Dance community. The sentiment from the song really shone through them with the smiles on their faces and on the faces of the audience around them, that said it all!

Hip Hop Night was an absolute blast with sooooo many incredible crews competing. It was a treat to watch all the talented crews fight it out. Our Hip Hop adjudicator, Trevor Santos, was blown away with the talent in Adelaide and said it was really hard to choose just three.
